Mariana has a research background with a PhD in Physics (Title of PhD Thesis: "Probing Localised States Distributions in Semiconductors by Laplace Transform Transient Photocurrent Spectroscopy") from the University of Abertay Dundee; an MSc in Medical Physics (specialisation in MRI, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology) from the University of Aberdeen; and an MSc in Solid State Physics from her previous studies at the Sofia University, Sofia, Bulgaria.

Currently, Mariana is working as a Physicist/Post-doctoral Research Associate within the MRI group at the Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology at the University of Dundee.
